Main varieties of antibacterial general-purpose plastics

(1) Antibacterial PE

With the increase of the amount of antibacterial components, the inhibition zone increases significantly; correspondingly, the antibacterial rate of the test piece/bacterial solution is only 6h, showing a gradual upward trend; and the antibacterial rate is above 90%, which meets the requirements of Requirements for antimicrobial materials. Furthermore, the appearance of the PE has not changed.
(2) Antibacterial PP
After the introduction of antibacterial components by adding antibacterial masterbatch, PP showed obvious antibacterial activity. With the prolongation of sample/bacteria contact time, the antibacterial rate increased; when the antibacterial components were the same, the antibacterial activity increased with the increase of the content of the antibacterial components, and the antibacterial rate changed significantly when the contact time was short.
(3) Antibacterial PVC
After the introduction of antibacterial components by adding antibacterial masterbatch, PVC can show obvious antibacterial activity. With the increase of the amount of antibacterial masterbatch, the antibacterial zone increased, and the antibacterial rate after only 6 hours of exposure also generally showed an upward trend, and all were greater than 90%. In addition, the antibacterial PVC still retains its transparency.
(4) Antibacterial ABS
After the introduction of antibacterial components into ABS, ABS showed obvious antibacterial activity. Its antibacterial effect is very good, and its 6h and 24h antibacterial rates are above 98%. It can be seen that the synergistic effect of the composite antibacterial components and the effect of the coupling agent on improving the antibacterial properties of ABS are very obvious.
(5) Persistent antibacterial activity of antibacterial plastics
The length of time a material maintains its high antimicrobial activity, or antimicrobial rate, can characterize the persistence of its antimicrobial activity. Obviously, if the antibacterial activity of antibacterial plastics is reduced a lot in a short period of time, then its use value is greatly reduced.
